Pathagoras offer several 'special' lists that you should consider adding to each collection. We call these 'Community DropDown Lists' because they are more general in nature, and should be considered for inclusion in all of your DropDown Collections.
These available community lists are displayed at the bottom of the DropDown Lists Menu. To access the Menu, click the Menu item in the Collections section of the toolbar.
Click Menu to display the DropDown List Menu, shown below
The Special Collections Lists are shown at the bottom.
A. Variables: The first is a running list of your variables. Click 'Variables' and Pathagoras will add a new DropDown List called (appropriately enough) 'Variables.' If a list of your variables already exists (from your having followed these steps in an earlier setting), those variables will populate the new list. Otherwise, Pathagoras will create a new list of variables. It will insert [Client Name], [Client Address], and [Client City, ST ZIP]) as a starter list. (These variables can be kept or deleted following the Editing procedures below.)
You can add more variables to the list in one of these ways:
1.Highlight a variable or a group of variables on the editing screen. (If more than one variable, the variables must be stacked down the left side of the page.) DropDown the Variables List and click the Add Variables to List element.)
2.Call up the Instant Database screen and click the 'Print List' button. Following the steps, click the option that reads Add to Variables List.
3.Click the Display List element in the DropDown Variables List
Editing a Variable List.
Your variables are stored in a file called Variables.txt. It is located in the same folder that your other Instant Database records are stored.
By default, the location of the Variables.txt file is:
32 bit computers: c:\program files (x86)\Pathagoras\IDBS
64 bit computers: c:\program files\Pathagoras\IDBs.
You can easily access the file for editing by clicking the Open List for Editing element near the bottom of the List itself. It will open as a WordPad file, but if you need the power of Word to edit it (search and replace, or alphabetize), you can easily copy and paste all or part of the content from the WordPad screen into a Word screen. Edit as desired and copy the results back into the WordPad screen. Save and close. You will have to refresh the screen in order for the List to reflect the latest values.
B. Personal Storage: We call the second community list "Personal Storage". This list is really just a container into which you can temporarily place documents, clauses, building blocks and text snippets that you wish to preserve, but don't quite know where the ultimately belown. So save now and process later. Consider this just a temporary storage location.
C. Super Folder: The SuperFolder is a folder typically containing your 'general' documents . It and its sibling SuperGlossary, below, allow you quick, no navigation access to the content you store there. If you have assigned a SuperFolder, it's a good idea (but not mandatory) to reference it with a DropDown List. (If you have not previously assigned your Super Books, Pathagoras will give you that opportunity. To learn more about the benefits of SuperBooks, click the link.)
D. Super Glossary: The SuperGlossary is a glossary typically containing 'general' clauses. It and its sibling SuperFolder, above, allow you quick, no navigation access to the content you store there. If you have assigned a SuperGlossary, it's a good idea (but not mandatory) to reference it with a DropDown List. (If you have not previously assigned your Super Books, Pathagoras will give you that opportunity. To learn more about the benefits of SuperBooks, click the link.)
