If you wish to rename documents in a folder, Word
mandates that you do so one at a time. If you want to add a
'Subject' attribute to your document, you have to go through several
steps.
The process that Word demands to accomplish what should be an
easy task to keep you folders 'clean, tidy, and well organized (in
terms of document names, anyway) is
quite arduous and tedious.
Pathagoras provides a tool that makes the process incredibly easy.
Using Pathagoras Names & Subjects editor, you can quickly rename documents
within a selected folder to
(1) comply with established
naming conventions;
(2) adopt the prefix/suffix naming style;
(3) add a descriptive 'subject' as an additional identifier
for each document;
(3)
remove illegal characters from document names in preparation for
converting a folder of terms into a glossary.
We originally created this module to make it easy to adopt the
prefix/suffix naming style in your office (2 above). But as it
gained popularity among users, the much broader extent of
it functionality became immediately apparent.
This is one feature with
which you should become familiar sooner rather than later. Click the
Names & Subjects Editor link in the panel at the left for
step-by-step, illustrated instructions on how to use this powerful
tool.
