This page assumes you have installed Pathagoras onto the new user's computer. |
Definitions:
Substantive files: Here, we mean your source documents, the letters, clauses, forms and other text that you assemble when you invoke Pathagoras' document assembly features.
Administrative files: These are the help files, dictionary files and other files stored in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Pathagoras" folder, including the 'pointers' for your collections of Libraries and Books, SmartPaths and DropDown Lists. Other files can be stored here as well.
Instant Database files: These are by default stored in "c:\program files (x86)\Pathagoras\IDBS". However, many networked users choose to store these files on the server or other common location. Be sure to repoint them to the server if such is your case.
Registry settings: Just like with other programs, Pathagoras stores a myriad of 'default' and 'user-personal' settings in the registry. You normally do not have to worry about what Pathagoras stores there, but just know that when you check a box or radio button to tell Pathagoras what to do on a long-term basis (a 'default'), you choice is recorded in the Registry.
Mirrored installation:
If you have the Networked version of Pathagoras, and previously set up a Mirror folder, the process of adding new users and new computers is much easier. If you have not done so, consider creating a Mirror folder now from the "adminstrator's" computer and, from the screens on the new users computer, simply point to the Mirror folder as a 'User'.
Non-mirrored installation:
If you choose not to use mirroring, you can still create a very flexible, very usable profile. Just follow the Checklist on the subsequent page and point/repoint to as many or as few locations as you desire.
