Quick Parts: Content Controls

Content Controls are more fully discussed in the next major section of this Manual.

This page takes the narrow focus of discussing the Content Control named 'Quick Parts'.

Apparently Microsoft wanted to make Quick Parts a major focus of their Content Control, but they so far have failed miserably. Detemining the source of your Quick Parts (they can be stored in any number of templates) AND the name of the gallery AND the name of the category can involve a lot of guess work. Not any more.

Click the QP Content Control near the bottom of the Quick Parts Tools front page. You can accomplish the same using the 'Content Control -- Quick Parts' button behind the in the Content Control tab (shown below).

After you click the trigger button, Pathagoras will present you a series of screens. First, select the template into which you have stored the desired content. Then select the gallery you want displayed. If you don't see the gallery you were looking for, you can start over. (It you still cannot find the Quick Parts, run a complete listing of them using the Quick Parts tools. If it's there, Pathagoras will find it.)

lightbulbsmall The Content Control you create can be copied and pasted anywhere (whether the same document or a new document) with ease. So long as the template that contains the Quick Parts is accessible, the Content Control will full function. (Remember, Quick Parts are tied to a specific computer. If you Content Control doesn't display the information you were expecting, update your Quick Parts through the Sharing tool.)
