TEXT SCRAMBLING in TRIAL VERSION OUTPUT! In evaluation mode, Help+Manual will scramble individual characters in random words in your published output files. This is a limitation of the free trial version. This help system was created with an evaluation copy of Help+Manual.

Pathagoras only subtly indicates the presence of a Content Control. It does so by converting the brackets of the variable name to short hyphen. So [Client Name] converted to a Content Control will appear as -Client Name-, that is until it is replaced by a real value; then only the 'real' value displays. At that point, only hovering over or clicking on the value will reveal its nature as a Content Control.

You can create a multiple choice 'drop down' control, we recommend them only if you are creating an Intake Form for another to complete. We generally don't recommend them, and will not automatically create them if you are implementing !groups!. See discussion below. But if you need multiple choice drop-downs for a particular project, e.g., Intake Forms, simply highlight the text, with the choices separated by slashes. Navigate to the Content Control menu and click 'Convert' Only the text within the highlight will convert.

<<*Repeat* . . . >>: You should NOT convert the variables in a document that has unprocessed repeat commands containing variables that you want to increment.  Pathagoras handles the repeating and incrementing process much better that Content Control can. You will still want to convert, but you can wait until after the document is processed, using Pathagoras 'automatic conversion' tools. So, if you use Repeat commands, just leave the document with simple Pathagoras coding in place. Process the document. You can then click the Convert button (found in the Instant Database Power Tools screen, or set Pathagoras to auto-convert after processing. This switch can be found at Pathagoras Features (top half) | All Settings | Instant Database | Content Controls. Check the AutoConvert button. (Make sure that the parent UCCs is also checked.)

Content controls will not be created for !Groups! in the fashion that groups would normally work during a normal document assembly session. (Think [!testator!he/she/they] and  [!testator!him/her/them] and [!testator!his/her/their], and the selection of one member of the group sets the values for the other members of the same group). The reason for this 'omission' is that it would cause you to lose the 'set one/set all' function for which we designed !groups! in the first place. Pathagoras handles the 'set one/set all' procedure much better than does Microsoft. With Content Controls listing options, each member of the groups would have to be separately set.  Pathagoras 'positional' approach to selecting a value for the individual members of a group is much easier, much more intuitive and, most importantly, automatic.

redarrowFill-in Forms: If you are using creating a fill-in form from Instant Database Power Tools, Pathagoras will create multi-choice drop-down Content Controls using a !groupname! or 'title:' for the title of the Content Control.

redarrowHeaders and Footers: While you can mix Conttent Control variables and 'regular' (square bracket) variables in the main document, you cannot do so in headers and footers. If you have switched on Use Content Controls, the variables headers and footers must only be Content Controls.

Error messages:

"Run-time error '445' (Object doesn't support this action).  This message is due to a backwards-compatibility setting. Content Controls were not  available in many prior versions of Word (esp., pre-2010). You can fix this by clicking File | Info | and click the 'Compatibility Mode' button to convert the document to one with the newest features.
