UnInstallation
Note: You must exit Word before trying to uninstall Pathagoras.
UnInstallation of Pathagoras accomplished in the same fashion that you would uninstall other programs, Begin the uninstall process via the Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs screen). Highlight the 'Pathagoras' entry and press the appropriate 'remove' button.
If for some reason the uninstall routine described above did not remove the program, it is relatively easy to do it manually. Here's how. (Actually, here are two ways how. You choose the one that is easiest for you.)
1. A. Exit Word
B. Navigate to your Word Startup directory.
If you are using Word97, chances are your startup directory is:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup";
If you are using Word2000 or higher, chances are your startup directory is:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICEXX\STARTUP"
C. Delete the Pathagoras.dot file you will see there. (Once you have removed the 'pathagoras.dot file, Pathagoras will no longer function. But remnants of the program -- its ancillary files -- will still remain on your computer. They are benign, and cannot function on their own (they are text files for the most part), but if you wish to remove them also proceed to step D.
D. Delete the directory called "Pathagoras" you will find on your 'C:\program files' folder.
2. If you cannot find 'pathagoras.dot' in the manner described above, follow these steps:
A. Make sure you have exited Word.
B. From your main Windows screen, press the 'Start' button.
C. Press 'Find.'
D. Press 'Files or Folders.'
E. Type 'pathagoras.dot' in the 'Named' field.
F. Make sure that the 'Look in' field is set to your C: drive, and 'Include Subfolders' is checked.
G. Delete any 'pathagoras.dot' files that are displayed.
H. Delete the directory called "Pathagoras" you will find in your 'C:\program files' folder drive. Continuethe search for any other folders or files that contain the word 'Pathagoras' and delete them to remove any remnants of the program. Any parts of the program other than the file "pathagoras.dot" are harmless (they are simple text files) and cannot affect program operations, but to the extent they add another entry in your directory structure, you may wish to track them down and delete them.
This should do it.
Let me know if you have any problems, comments or suggestions.
If you found that Pathagoras just didn't meet your needs, I would appreciate it greatly if you would share with me you thoughts on how the product could be improved. Please click here to be taken to the Comments page ( survey form resides there) or click here just to write a short email. I truly want Pathagoras to be a highly useful Word utility. I need your feedback to make it so.
