OtherNew Features
As always, there are a variety of smaller, but still important changes to the program designed to make the program easier to use and more intuitive. Word 97 users. Please read especially the last entry below. Clause Selection Screen Changes:
A preview button has been added to the Clause Selection screen. There was always a preview function (you could select ‘Preview’ under the double click menu) but that was hardly intuitive. The double click is still available, but this ‘direct’ preview is much simpler. Plus, for Word XP and 2003 users, you can continuously preview without having to close the preview window.
Jury Instructions (Sample):
Litigators take note: As a variation on the above theme, Pathagoras adds a couple of new features when the glossary has the words “Jury Instructions” as part of its name. Pathagoras adds an additional two buttons to the Clause Selection screen to allow the user to review the ‘Uses’ and the ‘Comments’ sections of specially prepared glossaries. The ‘Uses’ and ‘Comments’ text are contained within the glossary, but as ‘hidden text.’ Hidden text does not interfere with the actual document content, but can be ‘revealed’ upon requests. The model routine was designed specifically for the state of Wyoming (members of that bar were the first to ask, so they got it first). A highly condensed version of jury instructions now ships with DemoDocs so you can see how it works. Try it. More states to come, but likely on a first come first serve basis. Copyright interests of jury instruction authors will be protected. While jury instructions may be of particular interest only to lawyers, the possibilities of putting ‘hidden text’ to work as “Uses” and “Comments” text (or any other variations on this theme) are endless. I talk about it here to stimulate thoughts on how this idea can be adapted to other settings. I really need your help and ideas in this regard. Super I announced this in the Spring Special Edition, but many people still are unaware of this important feature. The SuperGlossary is now a reality. You can now specify a glossary to which Pathagoras will always look before saying that a particular glossary term doesn’t exist. This allows significant additional flexibility in ‘mouseless’ document assembly. ‘Options Text’ When options text was first introduced in version 10.1, you could choose one of up to 5 choices in the options list. Now, you can chose 1, 2, 3, 4 or all 5 listed options. When the options selection screen appears, please not the checkbox that appear next to each optional selection. Check the ones you want. Leave the ones you don’t want unchecked. You can even select an appropriate ‘connector’ for the selected choices, e.g., “ , . . . , . . . and . . .” or “ , . . . , . . . or . . .” or just spaces or just nothing. Free As you are developing your own glossaries, if you want us to ‘eyeball’ your work and receive some feedback from us as to possible improvements in the structure, etc, of your glossaries, or some answers as to why it doesn’t work the way you expected, please write. Send us the glossary that isn’t working quite right (or at all). Tell us the problem you are having any other background information that might be useful. We will shoot you back an answer and a suggestion or two (or five). Attention:
