Instant Database
Date and Date Math:
Pathagoras' Instant Database system lets you easily select and
properly format a 'date' to replace a variable. To
enable the feature, the document variable need only contain the word 'date' in any form (examples
provided in the previous Tip). When 'date' is in the variable, Pathagoras will
present a button between the two Instant Database columns. Click it
and a calendar opens. Select the appropriate date and it will be
inserted in the 'replacement' side of the form.
But Pathagoras goes beyond that. It lets you perform date-math
calculations. That is, you can add or subtract a certain number of days,
weeks, months or years to/from a selected date, and easily insert the result
into the IDB screen. This is a really 'cool tool.'
Click the 'IDB Date Math' link under "Help
Manual References" at the left for illustrated instructions.
