'Shelving' a Book: As discussed in a previous
tip, a
Book is an element of the Library to which
it belongs The Books in the current library are displayed when you
click the Document Assembly button.
Books are not the folders themselves. Rather, they are
pointers (shortcuts) to the folders to which they
point. Books save you a tremendous amount of time because,
once set, you never again have to navigate to the folder to which
the Book points.
To place a Book onto an empty shelf (that is, establish the
pointer):
(1) Click the Document Assembly button. The Libraries & Books
screen will display.
(2) Click on a blank shelf (that is, one one which no other
Book resides).
(3) Click the Quick Set button that appears at the right side
of the screen.
(4) Follow the on-screen directions that are provided and and
navigate to the folder that contains the documents you want to
connect to this Book. Select a single file from the book (is doesn't
matter which one -- it's actually the folder that is being locked in
here, not a particular document).
Take advantage of where you are!
If the document that currently is 'on-screen' when you begin
the shelving process is from the folder you want to point, you need
only perform steps 1, 2 and 3 above. Pathagoras will assume that the document that is
currently open in your editing screen represents the folder that you
wish to assign as a book and will offer that folder as the 'first
choice' in the resulting screen.
If Pathagoras assumed correctly, you won't have to navigate
anywhere in order to place the book on the designated shelf.
So as you are shelving books, you may wish to consider first
displaying a representative document from the folder. It may save
some time.
